5.0 out of 5 starsThe Crazy and the Evil - Psychiatry meets CriminalityJune 7, 2012
    By USN 05
    Format:Kindle Edition

The Mad and the Bad is a wonderful work about the intersection of psychiatry and the criminal justice system. The psychiatrist/author (John Hale) gives the reader unique insight into the types of mental illness which cross societal limits of acceptable behavior. These individuals wind up "inside the wire" of prison or jail. Their behaviors range from perversions such as pedophilia, bestiality, and exhibitionism to drug and alcohol associated criminal behavior; pyromania; and antisocial personality disorder (i.e. where the criminal has no remorse whatsoever for their victims). Through educational, descriptive and elegant writing, John Hale brings to light the roots of their illness/criminality.I highly recommend The Mad and the Bad to anyone interested in mental health or the criminal justice system.
