When Mahala Bishop is afflicted with bi-polar disorder, she is an accomplished woman in her 50's. This anomaly in timing (those so beset are usually decades younger) makes her reversal of personality all that more alarming to those she's closest to. Of above-average intelligence and with searing honesty and clarity, Ms. Bishop lays out her experience, evincing an extraordinary generosity of spirit. The fact that she has had an amazing life only compounds the devastation wreaked by this hideous disease. This book is important and should get more exposure, alerting anyone who may be similarly afflicted and still in denial. In addition, poems written by her husband of over 25 years grace the pages.
